Exam Overview

Conducting Authority: National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS), under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Scope & Prestige: Rashtriya Military Schools are premier residential public schools established to impart quality education to mold students for leadership roles in the Armed Forces and various other sectors of the nation. Admissions are conducted on an All-India basis for Classes VI and IX (for both boys and girls) across five prestigious campuses located at Chail, Ajmer, Dholpur, Belgaum, and Bengaluru.

Age & Educational Eligibility

Class VI: Candidates must be aged between 10 to 13 years as of 31 March 2027 (born between 1 April 2014 and 31 March 2017, both inclusive). Must have passed or be studying in Class V. Class IX: Candidates (Boys only) must be aged between 13 to 16 years as of 31 March 2027 (born between 1 April 2011 and 31 March 2014, both inclusive). Must have passed Class VIII from a recognized school.

Selection & Written Exam Pattern

Mode of Exam: Offline (OMR-based Written Examination). Class VI Structure (Total 200 Marks): Comprises 4 sections (50 questions each, total 200 MCQs) — English (qualifying nature, marks not counted for final merit), Intelligence Test (Reasoning), Mathematics, and General Knowledge & Current Affairs. Bilingual question paper (English and Hindi). Class IX Structure: Conducted in Papers. Paper-I includes English (50 questions), Hindi (20 questions), and Social Science (30 questions). Paper-II includes Mathematics (50 questions) and Science (50 questions). Question paper is in English only. Negative Marking: There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. Selection Stages: Stage I (Written Exam) $\rightarrow$ Stage II (Medical Examination) $\rightarrow$ Stage III (Interview: 20 marks for Class VI, 50 marks for Class IX) $\rightarrow$ Stage IV (Final Merit List & School Allotment).

Science & Social Science: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology topics (Force, Friction, Sound, Combustion, Cell structure, etc.); History (Our Pasts), Civics (Social and Political Life), and Geography (Resources and Development).
